Old ABASHIRI station spot　(S3W3)

Abashiri stop place where a townsman looked forward to it

Now, it is standing up in old Abashiri station spot. It is near parking lot of about Abashiri Centoral Hotel. Abashiri station of the railroad was constructed here in 1912 October.

It was started from Ikeda in Tokachi, and opened to street Abashiri as for Abashiri line 【 Notsukeusi(Kitami) 】. As for the station where Abashiri townsman looked forward to it, passengers were about 1 day 300 people with about 20 people at the first time 【 the station employee 】. A bean, cereals such as wheat, lumber, and so on took the greater part with the freight put on board from the station.

It became a beach Abashiri station only for the freight, and it was being used until the 44th year of Showa because the present station of Shinmachi was constructed and it moved though this station was used until (1932), the 7th year of Showa. Let's introduce the station which two writers saw in the age of old Abashiri station though various people got off and it stood up.

Osada Mikihiko came to Abashiri in 1914 spring. == A stop place was different from other stations because it was the end of Abashiri line. The guest who gets off moves to the platform. and that the footstep which steps on gravel, and a voice affect the bottom of the frozen air outside. == this description is being written in the work of the "Abashiri port" .

Sigeharu Nakano came to Abashiri,it passed through Kitami from Ikeda in Tokachi in 1922 summer . He was a student,and he did a trip to Hokkaido in the summer vacation.
After it stayed in Abashiri for several days, it passed Kitami, Ikeda from Abashiri station again, and he went to Nemuro. there was no Senmou railroad line yet in the age.

Soon, there is one story again because this station moves and new Abashiri station is constructed.
